Shantz, Aaron E.
Early: 1870 - Late: 1880
It is a pine blanket box, or storage chest, of six-board construction, nailed rather than dovetailed, set on a ogee bracket foot with moulded decoration around the base. It appears to have been over-painted in flat grey. The lid is attached by simple butt hinges. The cotton quilt inside the box is churndash pattern and apparently came from Aaron E. Shantz's family, Hannah Schnieder Shantz's husband.
The blanket box is said to have belonged to Hannah Schneider (1857-192?) according to the current owner, Mrs. Boehlender.
